Mary 'Dolores' Dennis

Mary “Dolores” (Hilditch) Dennis, age 92, residing at 315 50th Street, Sandusky, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 27th, 2001 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born on December 16th, 1909 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School and Toledo St. Vincent’s School of Nursing and worked as a Practical Nurse at Providence Hospital in the 1940’s.
She was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a Mass Lector.
She was past Public Relations Chair for the Toledo Diocese Catholic Council of Women, past Public Relations Chair for St. Mary’s Altar Society, member of Navy Mothers in the 1950’s, past member of the International Platform Assn., American Camping and Hiking Assoc., local camping clubs and served as a Den Mother.
She enjoyed writing inspirational stories and Poetry, making a difference in people’s lives, reading and camping.
She published articles in Redbook, Reminisce, and Columbia Magazine, and the Catholic Chronicle.
She was a published poet in the Anthology of American Poets, speaker, writer and poet on Alzheimer’s Disease.
She had a weekly byline in the Sandusky Register for the United Way Drive and helped publish a newsletter for the General Motors Retirees Club.

She is survived by her five (5) sons: James (Joan) and Michael (Geralyn) both of Toledo; Richard (Dolores), Sandusky; Louis (Barbara), Berlin Heights; and Thomas (Helen), Brooksville, Fl.; one (1) daughter, Virginia (Ronald) Wilson; one (1) brother, J. Robert (Betty) Hilditch, Ocala, Fl.; one (1) sister, Bernice Parsil, Curtis, OH.; 30 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis in 1992, two (2) infant sons, two (2) grandsons, her parents,Joseph and Anna (Daughton) Hilditch, one (1) brother, and one (1) sister.
